Problem Statement

There isn't an open-source IC design project management tool currently available.

Proposed Solution

We will create a project manager gui for opening a project and accessing cells from the project.

It will be laid out similar to the Virtuoso Library manager with a selection box for libraries, cells, and views. However, views can be either single files or folders.

It will then allow users to open each cellview using the tool associated with that type of cell. Each viper package would be able to add its own cell view types and cell view type editors.

Alternatives Considered

  • Only provide support for commercial tools.

Proposed Action Plan

  • 1. Create a gui for opening the project, starting with being able to open a single project.
  • 2. ...
  • 3. Then we'll add tests for this and that.

I plan to use vs code for the UI. While these designs will be very helpful, I won't implement them in Qt.
