This just occurred to me today. Normally a small red letter "M" on the toolbar
icon indicates that the tabs are muted. It is currently not there, so I went
to mute the tabs, and the option in the context menu on the icon to "Mute All
Tabs" no longer exists. I did try to reinstall the extension. It worked right
after installation, but a restart of Chrome made the option invisible again.

Windows XP SP3. Chrome version 11.0.696.71. Extension version 1.0.23

I did notice the changelog for r228
"- Don't show "Mute All Tabs" when it can't mute Flash in Windows XP and Vista"

BTW ... It did work. At least for me.

Thanks for the report.

Could you send us some screenshots? A screenshot of your Chrome Task Manager
(Shift+Esc, please make sure you capture all the items) and a screenshot of the
extension management page (chrome://extensions) would be great.

I hate to be a downer, but mine still is not functioning. I uninstalled the
extension, restarted Chrome, reinstalled the extension and the option was there
and functioned. But if I close Chrome and re-open ... it's gone from the
toolbar button context menu and the default keystroke of Alt+W makes the small
red "M" on the toolbar button, but does not function. Clearly it seems to be
me, but I would like to offer any help that I can.

Again Windows XP SP3, Chrome 11.0.696.71, Extension version 1.0.24

I was so excited to see this fixed but alas I was wrong I have the same issue
like mark.ob...@gmail.com "But if I close Chrome and re-open ... it's gone

the small red "M" on the toolbar button, but does not function. Clearly it

Here's my current solution:
Uninstall extension. Restart Chrome. Install Extension. Alt+W. Works. Keep
Chrome open all day.

I don't think you can call that a solution maybe a temporary fix and for sure I
would still say that Google needs to fix this,
The funny thing is that last night I walked away from my computer with Chrome
open (I hate closing my Chrome I have about 100 tabs open [and I'm still
waiting for Google to implement a 'stop all' function in Chrome]) today when I
came back to my computer the mute all tabs option is back in the context menu
and its working but for some reason Alt+W is not working now

Can you make another two screenshot? The first one is your Windows task manager
(press Ctrl+Alt+Delete, and click on "Task Manager") when Chrome is open, and
the second one is your Windows task manager when Chrome is closed.

I'll bump this as I'm having the exact same issue as above; same Win/Chrome
environments. Mine disappeared from my menu while the browser was open, as the
last guy that posted. I had it open and came back to work the next day (I'd
left the tabs muted) and noticed sound on a website and the option is gone from
the menu. In the Toolbox Options it talks about "Mute All Tabs" and things,
but it just doesn't show up in the list. Please fix this somebody! I
regularly use a company website that has this annoying "ding!" every couple of
seconds, and I leave it open basically 24hours per day (our core software).
Don't ask why, that's just the way it is, but a nice "Mute All Tabs" lets me
keep other sounds available from other browsers and/or music/video...

The attached shows clearly that the mute option has disappeared. My version is
of Chinese.

I am having the same problem. It just started today. I am using Windows XP.
The mute option is not there. I can hit alt W and the m shows up on the icon,
but the tabs are not muted.

Same issue, very annoying. Using XP sp3 here. Mute opting initially available
but vanished upon browser restart. Most annoying. Even uninstall/reinstall
hardly ever puts the mute all option back. The mute facility is the only reason
i use this extension. Please fix this.

note: accidently opened up an issue related to this.
