Trackpad not found (Acer 512 Spin) #18

Prepped a microsd card with Ubuntu 20.04 and Gnome. On boot, trackpad does not work. I needed to plug in an external mouse. Using lshw and xinput, Ubuntu does not even see my trackpad.
I tried installing Synaptics just in case, but that didn't work either. I'd love some help, thanks.

Now I know your touchpad isn't connected via PCI. Could you paste the text after pressing expand in hack-33025-touchpad in chrome://system?

Should be fixed now since I compiled in Synaptic drivers. Try running bash updatekernel.sh on your Linux PC (not your chromebook).

The more I research this issue, the more it appears to be a kernel bug. I'm not knowledgeable about the Linux kernel, and honestly may be conflating different issues as the same. https://forum.manjaro.org/t/etps-2-touchpad-not-working-kernel-bug-on-tigerlake/74132/7

I'm not sure, is it possible to integrate a patch into the chromeos kernel?

I think I'll use a factory (default) kernel for octopus chromebooks. Expect a fix to be out by tomorrow.

On second thought, factory kernels forbid audio from working. I suspect this problem has to do with my kernel configuration.

I saw some of your latest commit was changing flags on what looked like touchpad devices. Would that happen to be your current fix?

Yeah, I was just enabling random options related to synaptic, PS/2, and i2c touchpads. Plug in the Breath USB and try running bash updatekernel.sh again.

It usually crashes, but sometimes I get to login and then it crashes. 🙃 So it might be a while before I can get you that 'dmesg' output.
