Hello,

I think it would be great if the project had additional means to donate besides bitcoin and litecoin which is linked on F-Droid.
Possible platforms such as Liberapay, Open Collective, Patreon, Ko-fi, etc.

Thanks. We added bitcoin / litecoin as an experiment. No donations have trickled in, as expected... Perhaps, I should remove those.

But: RethinkDNS is a full-time effort for 3 engs, and so we want to sustain it by selling services that folks would buy. Let's see how far we can make that work.

Understood. Just a thought - I have seen projects that have a freemium model and accept donations. The users that can't afford or will only use the libre version can support this great project as well.

Oh, I wasn't even aware you added such options for donation. And I specifically searched for it, on Github and on the website, so I guess you really wanted your experiment to fail. In two words: confirmation bias (no offense @ignoramous, but it really looks like it).

Could you please consider Monero or Paypal as donation option? You surely know that (Lite | Bit)coin are open ledgers, and that by doing a donation one would reveal to the entire world what's his balance account. At least using Paypal (or any of the alternative stated above), it would stay between that person, you, and the third-party. Even eliminating the third-party in the case of Monero.

I understand your reasons not to accept donations, so I won't insist. In that case, I'll just wait for the paid plans (hopefully) launched later this month 😉

We are now on GitHub Sponsors (uses Stripe).

And host a sponsor page on Stripe ourselves.

Re: Crypto: I intended to create a wallet with an Indian custodial-wallet providers to legally take sponsorship money, but none support Monero (for obvious reasons). I also like MobileCoin (since it is seamlessly embed into Signal, and the coins keeps circling between Signal accounts until explicitly cashed out via an exchange... which is kind of neat).

Well, did those plan hit a giant snag due to developers quitting unexpectedly (and returning back, well at least one of them)! We are slowly getting those plans back on track.

May setup Patreon, Kofi, liberapay, opencollective at some later date.
