CHAOSS Common Metrics Working Group
Table of Contents
The Common Metrics Working Group focuses on defining the metrics that are used by multiple working groups or are important for community health.
From time to time, we come across metrics that do not cleanly fit into one of the other existing working groups. This working group acts as a central hub to create and debate over such metrics.
Who should join this working group?
All contributors are welcome to participate in the Common Metrics Working Group. The areas of interest include organizational affiliation, responsiveness, geographic coverage, and more.
How to Join Us?
You can start by joining and introducing yourself on the CHAOSS mailing list explaining your interest.
Further, you are welcome to participate in our video conferences. The details of these meetings can be found here
Read the agenda and meeting minutes to know the discussions of the previous meetings and find out more about the next one.
As a contributor, you can help us keep our community open and inclusive. We request you to adhere to the guidelines mentioned in the CHAOSS Community: Code of Conduct
See the CONTRIBUTING.md for more information.
Focus-Areas and Goals
The metrics of this working group are classified into the following focus areas:
|Contributions||Identify what contributions are made (e.g., code commit, wiki edit, documentation)|
|People||Identify organizations and individuals who make contributions (e.g. contribution type, demographics)|
|Place||Identify where contributions occur in terms of physical and virtual places (e.g., GitHub, Chat Channel, Forum, conferences)|
|Time||Identify when contributions are made (e.g., time to respond)|
We are involved in the release of CHAOSS metrics. Check out our published work at https://chaoss.community/metrics/
