Date misalignment in vertical chess order

Hello there,
and thank you for the most elegant timeline plugin.
When I display my timeline in vertical chess order, then on odd events the event date gets misaligned in every second post. I.e. instead of left-aligned, it seems to become more like center-aligned on events no. 3, 7, 11, etc. I get the same behavior on firefox and chrome.
I include a shot below, the date is simply YYYY.

Looking into it carefully, it does NOT have to do with the position of the event after all. It depends on the previous item. In the screenshot above, the top and bottom even items (on the left) had text plus an image which has an "alignright" class. Changing it to anything else fixed the following event dates.
