Make "Payment ID" visible in the payment listing.
"Artist" is clickable, and goes through to the artist.
Make a screen where the payment ID (including possible hash) can be entered, the payment appears and is confirmed. Clicking "confirm" switches payment to "Payment Received" and the amount adjusted if necessary.

above is is done.
above has an issue where the paypal payment ID that the merchant sees is different from what the buyer sees. THere could be a security issue in revealing the merchant ID to the buyer. Avoid that.

Possibly a better system is to keep paypal records completely separate, and record ALL information delivered through IPN.
