Display image captions on iPad

When you tap on an image that's loaded inside the Lightbox layer (on dark background), you'd expect the caption and maybe also the navigation icons to show up. This is the behaviour in desktop browsers but this doesn't seem to be happening on the iPad.

Also, it's not obvious swiping up or down allows tablet users to close an image.
