The #chez channel now exists on Freenode; please bless it #5
Comments
(bless #chez 'official) |
blessed! |
All blessings are welcome, but it is the blessings of core Chez development folks that Freenode needs. |
@johnwcowan I'm happy to bless this with the caveat that I've not been much of an IRC user over the last 20 or so years, but I will try to drop in from time to time, if that is acceptable. |
Of course you and all members of the Chez team are entirely welcome at #chez, but your presence is not at all required. We merely need some documentation that we are acting with, rather than totally independently of, the Chez team. You can connect to Freenode IRC channels without an IRC client using http://webchat.freenode.net. |
Sounds good. I definitely bless it then. I did drop in for a bit last night, and I will try to make some effort to drop in from time to time. Do you need anything beyond me saying it is blessed to make it official? (Do you need me to send anything to freenode.net for instance?) If not, feel free to consider this matter blessed and we can close this out. |
There is a form to fill out, but according to reports, freenode is no longer actually looking at the form. The channel is registered with ChanServ and I can become an op when needed, so the channel won't be hijacked. I have made you an op as well; if you need to exercise your powers (such as to change the topic), type "/msg chanserv op #chez". Otherwise, yes, go ahead and close the issue. |
Oops, actually you need to register yourself. Next time you are on, type "/msg nickserv register " so that I can make you an op. |
That barfed. It's /msg nickserv register password email-address |

IRC users now have a channel #chez on Freenode, which technically should be called ##chez because it is unofficial. Please leave a comment blessing it as official so that we can point to this if Freenode staff ask us. Thanks.
