Hi, i have changed and add dots on every form="short" in locales,
https://github.com/citation-style-language/locales/blob/master/locales-sk-SK.xml
but the style doesnt load it with dots as it should.
https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/blob/master/iso690-author-date-sk.csl

Where is the problem? Any suggestion? Thanks.

Are you using Zotero, Mendeley, or another program?

In Zotero, CSL locales are pulled in before every new release, so this won't work before 4.0.18

Thanks... What about Mendeley? It seems it doesnt load locales at all.

You're right, Mendeley doesn't currently use locales at all. They know about that and have promised to fix it.
@cpina - can you give us a status update about this? Going to happen any time soon?

It doesn't: http://support.mendeley.com/customer/portal/questions/1519214-csl-issue-mendeley-seems-to-ignore-localization

I also don't know how frequently Mendeley updates its CSL locale files.

The simplest workaround would be to basically include the entire sk-SK locale file within the style, with no xml:lang value on <locale> within the style.

(though I don't think we'd accept that as a style on the repository, would we?)

Like https://gist.githubusercontent.com/rmzelle/9474163/raw/aa8b14528e5d76761c001204622d5a42f62a31f4/gistfile1.txt

(and no, we don't want styles like that in the repository, since Mendeley should just support locales properly)

Well thanks, I will wait till Zotero update 👍

That workaround should work for Zotero as well, by the way.

Yes, I already using it, thanks :) but just for my own, should be stupid to upload it on repository.

Hi - Mendeley doesn't support the locales but there is a workaround in the linked page: http://support.mendeley.com/customer/portal/questions/1519214-csl-issue-mendeley-seems-to-ignore-localization

We will implement it probably for Mendeley Desktop 1.12 , I'll let you know @rmzelle and @adam3smith when it's done.

@cpina, that workaround only changes the locale used by Mendeley right? Just so I know, is there a way to update the CSL locale files in Mendeley by hand?

@rmzelle : I generate the CSL locale files in Mendeley with a Python script (from the csl-locales github repo) and then we bundle with Mendeley Desktop. No easy way at the moment, sadly.

They are updated with each Mendeley release, though?

At the moment we don't have any automatic process to update the locales when building Mendeley Desktop (same goes for citeproc-js, which we update from time to time). So it's not guaranteed that we update the locales with each Mendeley Desktop.

I plan to add proper support for CSL locales in Mendeley Desktop and then I hope to address at the same time too.
