100% HDD usage, brings system to a crawl

Is this typical?

Each time it scans, it brings my PC to its knees for a good two hours or more..
Admittedly I only have a modest/average PC and not some pig of a super-computer but still..
I do have a healthy collection of loras and checkpoints as well.

Other extensions for Civi don't cause this to happen, but those lack features this one has. If it's typical, then fine, I'll just let it run at night or something, but if this is unusual behavior then I'll investigate further.
