Some apps aren't behaving well with using a <p> block for the hashtags list. They don't get added to a new line, and instead show up right against the content of the post with no spacing.

New PR incoming later today.

Setting two line breaks to make up for it, and then a <span> tag is a good compromise. Additionally, if no tags exist, the additional line breaks won't be included in the post now. Hashtag bar still works with a <span>

Works correctly in:
(unfortunately all my fave apps so I didn't notice it at first!)

  • Ice Cubes
  • Radiant
  • Elk
  • Phanpy
  • Feditext
  • Tootle
  • Semaphore
  • Pinafore
  • Mastodon Web UI

Issue in:

  • Mastodon iOS app
  • Ivory
  • Trunks
  • Woolly
  • Tusky
  • Sora
  • Tusker
  • Tooot
