Feature request: Email bookings

Since we have the option to record an email address when creating accounts it would be a nice feature to be able to configure email client settings so that you have the ability to email out bookings and cancellations when made by users of the system.

Hi, thanks for your suggestion! It's been something I've thought about and wanted to add for a while, but it's quite a big feature once you get into it, so no real progress has been made yet.

There are several different emails that could potentially be sent:

New, updated and deleted bookings:

• Confirmation to user who created booking
• Notification to room owner

Can you think of any others?

There would need to be a settings page for configuring how mail is delivered, as well as a page for enabling/disabling each type of message along with customisation of the subject/contents.

This would be fantastic, I just logged on to put something similar, we have just added school minibuses to the bookings, it would be fantastic if an email could be sent to someone to alert them when the booking is made/cancelled. Don't know how possible it is, but could an extra menu be presented to the person making the booking with some checkboxes? Driver Required - Tick Box

Hey k9mjl, sounds like a great use case.

Regarding the last point, about the booking creator and checkboxes - this will be added as part of another big feature development that's planned :) Custom fields only exist for rooms at the moment, but these will be extended to bookings - so you can configure one or more fields that can apply to bookings, and then in the settings for each room, specify which bookings fields should be presented to users.

I'll also make sure these filter through to the emails, when added.
