Hello,
Some friends of mine find this library https://github.com/plietar/librespot which re-implement the spotify library but in a open-source manner,
Would it be possible to use it a as a spotify backend and let the user choose which one their wants to use.

As stated by the project's maintainer, it probably violates their terms of use: "Using this code to connect to Spotify's API is probably forbidden by them. Use at your own risk" so I'm not sure this is something we would like to integrate within Clementine.

libspotify is discontinued so librespot may be the better option:
