What is the current behavior?

Logging in is not possible with GitHub, as it is currently not accessible.

Use the app and try to log in via GitHub.
GitHub fails due to repeating 500 or 504 errors.
The peer to peer app does not work.
What is the expected behavior?

I can create text notes.

What is the motivation / use case for changing the behavior?

Relying on a central authority for a peer to peer environment does not help the case.
