Switching to and from desktop view doesn’t animate

Switching between any of the mobile device viewports animates nicely, however because of some issue I ran into with positioning for the desktop view (or controlling the width precisely, I can’t remember exactly what), I had to make it so that it was an instant jump when switching both to and from the desktop viewport.

Eventually I want to make it animate again 😣, so I’d love any help anyone can offer to make that happen.
