Where does the discovery of http://thetransitapp.com/ for RI leave us? Is transit app using GPS data or only scheduling?

Most definitely uses schedule data only. R Line north and south basically pass each other at the bottom of my block, so I walked down and checked it out. The northbound bus was 1 minute early and the southbound bus was 7 minutes late. The app's moving bus icon just followed the schedule, as if everything was hunky dory.
