In the font section of the UI Designer you can choose a decoration (i.e., Shadow) and this will be applied, but if you reopen the style it will default to None and you need to explicitly set it back to shadow if you want to keep it.
This happens even if you don't make any changes on the font tab. i.e., reopening the style and changing the background image will lose text decoration when you save it.
I'm on Linux, haven't tested on other platforms.
