Copter GCS not working when connected directly with bule snirf gold

I tried to connect with bule snirf gold directly 

BSG          APM
Tx------------Rx
Rx------------Tx
GND-----------GND
VCC-----------VCC

BSG            BSG
CTS------------RTS

I have buad set to 5600 KBPS and its showing link active but is not displaying 
any data from APM....
I have selected MAV

Which version of copter-gcs are you using?

make sure you are connecting to a MAVLink 1.0 device.

I.e., APM (afaik) is still MAVLink 0.9. Try using version 8 instead.
That would explain the failed communication.
