Hello everyone. First of all I want to thank crosire for this wonderful piece of dll.
Your d3d8.dll is what allows me to play Morrowind in its vanilla glory, without having to install other mods that while enable the game to be properly played on modern systems, alter the original look of it (i.e. an obnoxious water mod which can't be disabled).
This is the problem I'm having: Pure vanilla Morrowind runs fine on my PC (i9 9900k @ 3,6Hz, GTX 970 stock core speed, 16 GB Ram), the only problem being that when I'm in towns (not in the wilderness or inside caves/buildings) I have an intollerable micro-stutter when I turn around with the mouse that makes playing impossible for me, and I tried for a few days, thus testing the base game's stability without any external dll.
Your latest d3d8.dll (as of now 1.11.0.0, I've tried prior versions, but they have other incorrect display errors, like invisible water and bright red background and pitch black armor in the character's doll in the menu) makes the stutter disappear completely, but after a while playing, be it after 10 minutes or after 3 hours, I get the infamous ''display driver nvlddmkm has stopped responding'' error. I tried adding the ''TdrDelay = 8'' line in the registry to see if it helped, but the error changed in ''application Morrowind.exe was unable to access the graphic hardware''.
When it happens the ''image'' on the display ''freezes'', but I can hear the game is still working in the background, music continues, and if I jump or move around I can hear the steps and npc's responses.
Since without the .dll the game works fine, I thought maybe it was a non complete compatibility between it and Morrowind that caused the errors.
My display drivers are of course updated to the latest version from Nvidia's page.
Thank you for your answers.
