Failed to receive SOCKS5 connect request ack #365

Hm, no. Curl_blockread_all() returns an error code and it is zero (CURLE_OK) when everything is fine. It seems curl just doesn't get the SOCKS5 response it wants before it times out. Do you use a time-out? |
Hey badger, I think I am narrowing down the problem. The host I am trying to connect to is defined in the |
curl can be made to resolve the host name locally or remotely with SOCKS5, the default is a local resolve. We call it "socks5h" when the proxy is asked to resolve the name. |
Closing due to inactivity and no further details. Re-open if you figure out more or have more details to tell. |
When i used --socks5-hostname, it's ok and gets a normal response. But i also got a error message as @moltar when using --socks5. And i figure out that the DST ADDR field is hostname rather than ipv4 address when using --socks5-hostname. Also i used wirkshark to get some packet.
There has been nearnly a 60 seconds timeout, maybe ssh remote endpoint proxy failure leads to local socks server close the connection? @bagder |
Sorry, but are you suggesting there's a curl bug in there? I didn't see any... Adding comments to really old and closed issues are next to useless unless you intend to bring new details to shine light on the problem, and then we can reopen it and continue. You seem to say that one fails and one works, which sounds like not-a-curl-bug to me! |
@bagder rather, i just want to tell that the issue does not involve to curl. And when i use ssh socks server as verbose mode, the log tells the truth.
The remote endpoint connection failure causes this curl issue. |
I'm trying to proxy git via socks5. When I try to clone a repo, I get the following error:
Looks like it's coming form here:
https://github.com/bagder/curl/blob/master/lib/socks.c#L661
Should it be
if(!result
by any chance?Thanks!
