Sometimes, different time control are granted to the white and black side for chess and chess variants. This is usually combined with the rule that a tie equals to black win, and time odds are applied to the advantageous side.
FIDE World Chess Cup adopted such rule from (at most) 2014 until (at least) 2021. China's Xiangqi A-Level League, the top xiangqi league event, also uses such rule for tie-break since 2007. There are also Lichess events that includes time odds. (see below)
Adding time odds offers better options to help tutor chess, reduces players' level difference. for humana. And it also gives a way to better compare between strong engines that are more likely to draw, by setting alternative time odds that brings more decisive results, and is more reasonable than the current position-odd method.
Thus, I believe it will be very helpful if Cutechess can add an option of different time control (time odds) for certain side in a game or multi-game tournament. Please consider adding it!
