Describe the enhancement request
On systems like laptops where the default Gnome brightness stuff "just works" there's a brightness slider in the initial settings window, and an option to dim the screen on inactivity in the "Power" section. This package does a fine job of providing a brightness slider using ddcutil. It would be awesome if it could implement screen dimming on inactivity as well.

I don't think adding the option to "Power Saving Options" would be necessary, as there's already an options section for the extension.

The main benefit for this would be OLED screens, where dimming on inactivity is one of the strategies used to avoid "burn in" effects. Plus it's cool :-)

I need to go through the documentation to find out which signals are emited when

  1. screen dims
  2. screen blanks
  3. screen becomes active

Then it is easy to implement, any help would be appericiated. May be ask the GNOME developers and try to figure it out.
