Hi,

How does the episode cache limit actually work? What will happen if you are up to the limit you've set, have auto download set and are adding a new podcast to the queue whichh should be downloaded? Will the oldest downloaded podcast be deleted or will the new episode not be downloaded until you manually delete episodes keeping you under the set limit?

Also is the limit per podcast or total downloaded episodes?

I've made this diagram and I hope it helps
https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1uCmcD_JKzWhBVfXvN8IBEMN8IPfSV07UKD8MKarJJCQ/edit?usp=sharing

How I use Antennapod:

  • I add certain items from New to Queue.
  • They download automatically (my cache is configured to 10, so there are always 10 downloaded items).
  • Each one gets removed automatically after being listened.

Thanks! That was very helpful. I will run with this setup for a while to see how it affects storage and if I can live with AntennaPod as my main podcast player.

It looks like this question has been answered. The behavior of the episode cache should probably be documented in the wiki.
