I sometimes write longer post which could benefit from a table of contents. I'd be happy for this to be included.

Additionally, automatic anchors (#text-of-the-title) for titles would have to be included I think. I've seen this employed like that in other web software

At the moment we can only use javascript to achieve this, there is not built-in feature yet. And yes this should be added to the core even though only using JS.

Just porting a theme Papermod and this contains built-in TOC (using JS), please check the htmly demo website. Another theme using TOC is the Doks theme.

Yes, the label can be changed using the config/widget safely.
