Convert Date to string to get year, month & date

I am making a blog & I have an .mdx file which has a frontmatter:

.
date: '2020-09-12T14:54:37.229Z'
.
.
---

I have set the type to of this date to be Date in TS:

export type Meta = {
	.
	date: Date
    .
}

I want to parse this date to get year, month & date. I tried doing:

import { getYear, getMonth, getDate, parseISO } from 'date-fns'

console.log(getYear(parseISO(tutorial.date.toDateString())))

But I get an error:

TypeError: tutorial.date.toDateString is not a function

If I pass tutorial.date to parseISO then it throws:

Argument of type 'Date' is not assignable to parameter of type 'string'.ts(2345)

I can't get to figure out how to just convert a Date to string & I have been Googling for 6+ hours. Help?

Lmfao, 6+ hours of Googling & found the answer by googling convert utc string to date javascript after 1 min of posting:

const d = new Date(tutorial.date)
console.log(getYear(d))
