When using some special characters like äüö and other non-ascii characters, you might encounter an error like this in Tomcat:

Invalid character found in the request target. The valid characters are defined in RFC 7230 and RFC 3986

This seems to be an older issue. The encoding has been improved in package XLIB_JASPERREPORRTS.
