To make this daemon truly universal it really needs to support more than just ALSA.

For FreeBSD, OSS support would be helpful. Additionally, if you use fluidsynth as your tone generator under FreeBSD or Linux, support for libfluidsynth would be extremely useful.

(I have done a simple ethernet MIDI implementation (using a different protocol) that invokes fluidsynth this way - you can search for the project under my user name if you want to see what I did)

Hi,

about libfluidsynth I think it is absolutely out of scope, as this should be only about rtpmidi.

About OSS support I could look into it, but before in the priority list is jack support, which is supported on FreeBSD.

Anyway if you want to do a fluidsynth rtpmidid connected daemon, librtpmidid can be used to do that hopefully with minimal modifications.
