OTF hinting problem in Chrome OS #1

At low font sizes, Chrome OS renders a blurry top edge for bitfontmake's OTF files:

The left and right edges show normal subpixel rendering, but the top edges have abnormal artifacts not present when using bitfontmake's TTF files.
