sure thing, no rush of course. i was looking to adopt netlifycms and this and other issues made it seem like it wasnt really quite ready for showtime yet :( i am staying on my current static site generator for now but would love to move to netlifycms someday.

It's the identity widget - open the elements dev tools and watch a new iframe get added every time you click a link. I'm deploying with the new plugin to see if this behavior changes.

@sw-yx it's fixed now, you just have to use the latest version of this starter, which uses the Gatsby plugin to integrate Netlify CMS.
