Error installing on Python 3.12.2 #1188

I am unable to install dedupe on python 3.12.2

CPU: M1 (arm)
OS: MacOS Sonoma 14.3
Python: 3.12.2

Steps to reproduce:

~/.pyenv/versions/3.12.2/bin/python -m venv sanity

source ./sanity/bin/activate

pip install --upgrade pip

pip install dedupe

Expected: Dedupe to install

Actual:

This also fails in our build pipeline (Docker / docker/library/python:3.12.2-bookworm)

Looks like this is fixed on the main branch, so I'm guessing in the next release of dedupe this will be fixed
