This may be similar to other reports.

Gist version 0.5 installed as an elpa package
GNU Emacs 23.2.1 (x86_64-apple-darwin, NS apple-appkit-1038.29) of 2010-05-08 on black.local

Here's the trace from the message buffer:

Just reproduced, with emacs 23.3.1 on Linux. Newest gist.el (4cebac9).
