The current set of LRG templates are just >1 Gyr-old simple stellar populations (SSPs) based on theoretical calculations by C. Conroy & collaborators. The current plan for hewing these templates more closely to data is to stack SEQUELS/LRG spectra and then to fit non-negative linear combinations of Charlie's SSPs to those spectra.
