import-excel cannot read excel formatted xml

I am not sure if this is an issue or a feature request, but I have noticed if I have an excel formatted xml file, you can open it with the excel com object and then save it out as an xlsx, but import-excel fails and says that it does not support reading this extension type .xml
This would be super helpful because you can build an entire formatted excel sheet with code exporting to xml, but you cannot create a formatted xlsx directly.

@tankcr Thanks for the info. I suspect it may not be doable. Please say more about I have an excel formatted xml file.
