Ring Cameras always in stream mode even though not being looked at

I am having a problem with the RING plugin. When the plugin is enabled some of my Ring cameras start to live stream 24/7. As soon as I disable the plugin it stops. Any idea what is happening?

Do you have an Apple TV running tvOS 17?

Unfortunately, this appears to be a new behavior of tvOS 17 and the new Homekit button. It seems these devices constantly attempt to stream video, even when not viewing. Some users have reported success with the minor updates Apple has pushed out (I think 17.0.2) but others still seem to see the behavior. Unfortunately, I don't have one of these devices, but it seems like Apple will have to fix it as there's nothing the plugin can do. Note that this happens with other cameras and plugins as well. I'd suggest making sure they are all fully updated and then restarting them, and see if that helps but, otherwise, it's just wait and hope Apple fixes it.

Ok, I will see if they have any updates available. Side note, all my TestFlight apps have stopped updating since 17.0. This TVos has bugs.

This thread discusses the problem as well. For some users it seemed to finally stop after a while, maybe a reboot or something.

I can confirm that this behavior still exists also with 17.0.2. As a result it drains the RING battery (despite being wired) and finally it will go offline. Hopefully the upcoming 17.1 update will fix this. I had to deactivate the plugin at the moment.

I have installed the tvOS 17.1 on my ATV's last night and have re-enabled the RING plugin on Homebridge. So far so good but I need a longer period to really if the issue was resolved in this update.

So far I'm not seeing the endless live camera streams on my RING anymore. Looks like Apple fixed it in the ATVOS 17.1
