so far the options seem

  1. write a javascript server to run in background and deal with downloading webtorrents
  2. Modify one of the existing java torrent libraries to use the webrtc communication layer
  3. wait for someone else to do either.

Webview option just not able to meet all requirements, file saving and background processing problematic. Webtorrent videoplayer is working to download and play video via webtorrent and singularly in the background. To properly implement a javascript background service will need to be implemented

rotating or resizing screen causes download to restart,
workaround, turn off rotation
