After taking an initial Quest, talking to NPCs will henceforth show the same two options, even long after completing said Quest.
An example is an end-game Character whose current quest is "Diablo" and has "Gossip" and "The Butcher" on every Talk to.

Well, its not the first time somebody reported this.
And since it reported even from diabloweb, that bug is still present.

Actually this also happens with new heroes:
image
(notice the clever on the ground)

What happens:

  1. Start new game with new hero
  • Quest log is empty
  1. Talked to the wonded towns man
  • "The Butcher" appears in quest log and dialogs
  1. Killed The Butcher
  • Quest log is empty
  1. Move to level 3, talk to Ogden get Leoric quest
  • "The curse of king Leoric" appears in quest log but "The Butcher" appears in dialogs

image

Expected:

  • "The curse of king Leoric" appears in dialogs log

Additional notes:

  • I saved and loaded during the game

confirmed for single player, multiplayer, 32 and 64 bit. Since this also appears to affecting Diabloweb it's most likely an upstream issue.
