I installed audacity from the Ubuntu 18 the Sofware app.
Everything works fine but when I tried to add effects I noticed some issues with the paths.

Once realized that the snap paths where the default effects are stored are intentionally read only I attempted to place my plugins n the default system directories specified in the audacity manual.
https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/installing_effect_generator_and_analyzer_plug_ins_on_linux.html

This did not work either.

After playing around a bit I was able to get ladspa and VST plugins to work by placing the .so files in
~/snap/audacity/current/.audacity-data/Plug-Ins

But I cannot LV2 effects to load and for some reason all of the default nyquist effects show up twice.

would be nice to get this snap fixed up so the default paths work.
I think the method that worked for me is deprecated.
