@gmaclennan here is short write up for installation page about alternative ways to install Mapeo APK in offline contexts. It should be much easier way to send Mapeo APK than using adb and micro-usb cable.

Mapeo could be downloaded directly from apk.mapeo.app/latest. To install Android application from outside of Google Play Store you need to enable installing unknown apps.

If you are in place with no Internet connection, you can share the previously downloaded Mapeo APK from your mobile device with others via Bluetooth using third party tools such as Bluetooth APK sender or using your Mobile phone WiFi with Easy Share : WiFi File Transfer
