When I type el-get-emacswiki-refresh nothing is updated. I recieve the following:

Using a proxy for http...
Contacting host: Proxy:####

Since this is running in bach mode I cannot enter my user name nor password.

Oh damn, non transparent http proxy, that still exists. That is setup in the environment, right? the http_proxy env variable? I wonder why that's not inherited to Emacs subprocesses.

That is one way to send the information to multiple programs. It is inherited to emacs processes. However, url.el does not support the:

username:password@hostname.com:8333

syntax, just the

username:password@hostname.com.

At home with no proxy, I get

Contacting host: www.emacswiki.org:80

And after 20 minutes nothing has happened.

Are you trying on Windows or Linux?

If on Windows try the solution DarwinAwardWinner suggested in #569, it solved that exact issue for me (sits at contacting host)

Running within Emacs works just fine.

I think that running with a proxy it would work fine too since Emacs would prompt for a user-name and password.
