If you use
froster restore --ec2
the data will be restored to a new ec2 instance with local (ephemeral) storage. The size of the instance will be automatically picked based on the amount of data you want to restore. The base operating system isAmazon Linux 2023
which is based on a newer Red Hat / Fedora distribution. Software is either installed on the system level using the package manager (dnf install
) or as the ec2-user though a script called~/bootstrap.sh
. After logging in usingfroster ssh
you can check the output of bootstrap.sh by usingtail -f ~/bootstrap.out
Currently we configure some basics such as aligning the timezone of the EC2 instance with your local machine and install a conda environment with Python and R and launch a Jupyter lab notebook with Python and R Kernels.
What else should be installed and configured besides the software below?
System bootstrap (cloud-init)
User bootstrap (~/bootstrap.sh)
