Google OpenID can't be validated

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Click the openid icon in Flock.
2. Paste your Google openid url into the text field under "Get an OpenID".
3. Click validate.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect the ID to be validated and become listed under Suggested OpenID's.
Instead it said it could not validate the OpenID. 

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Flock 2.5, Windows XP SP2

Please provide any additional information below.
I was logged into my google account when I tried to validate it. At
http://openid-provider.appspot.com/ I could see that no attempt was made to
validate my openid.
