Name

Idea sharing and crowdsourcing hub

Purpose

Lots of people have great ideas but have no resources to implement them. There are many people on the other hand in a search of better application of their efforts and talents. We may let meet them in a central place so great ideas become alive and people get satisfied with what they do.

Idea generators aren't always concerned with money and are happy to share their ideas with others. Idea is the goal and no matter who bring it to life: a group of altruistic enthusiasts or a greedy corporation. The world with expensive iPhone is better then the one without.

Many communities gather ideas or proposals using different tools. E.g. we use GitHub for this purpose so why not to use district0x itself?. We can give a great and convenient tool for everyone.

Description

Think of Reddit for ideas. A big space separated to subspaces by topic/community/project. Every subspace can form a DAO so to govern its internal rules for workflow/publication/etc., elect moderators, incentivize its members and so on. At the same time the whole hub is governed the same way by its district DAO.

Features

  • Ad-hoc subspace creation through the district DAO methods
  • Subspace DAO
  • Optional content filters aka moderators reviewing and approving user submitted ideas
  • Cross-subspace posts (each moderator should approve the posting to their subspace)
    • imagine I have a project idea for urban communities to be implemented by means of blockchain, so I want to post it to 'urban' and 'blockchain' subspaces
  • User rankings(?)
  • Tools for every idea to bootstrap: participation, roles, project management, crowdfunding, etc.

@uvizhe Excellent idea, thanks for sharing

E.g. we use GitHub for this purpose so why not to use district0x itself

We're currently using github issues only as an interim solution towards building out a district dashboard where proposals can be made and found easily. Incorporating some of these features into that would be wonderful, so again, thank you for the ideas!

Sounds like a great opportunity to create a curation market around ideas so the idea submissions can have a stake in the idea if it does well. You have my upvote.

I was thinking of something like an Ideaverse but then saw your proposal which is similar but with one major difference. Take all of the ideas/projects that users input into your district and use what I call gravity to identify links between users. Gravity is commonality of upvotes among users. If 1000 people participate and upvote 100 different sites each, it's possible that a good number of them might also be upvoting the same sites. These site could be linked somehow and could introduce others to ideas that they might not have known where being discussed. If I follow biology/yeast and 50% of the people in that sub also follow /homebrewing then I might have valuable input even though I've never thought about homebrewing.

I was thinking of general ideas as stars, more specific ideas as planets then micro topics as moons. Stars, planets and moons would all move closer/further in response to the gravity that each has towards each other. This would create a fluid organization of subs that is constantly changing based on "gravity".

It looks like your proposal has a lot of synergy with proposal number #94. I would suggest you take a look. Seems like a great opportunity to collaborate.

The ‘Elaborate’ tag has now been added. If you would like to add more detail or development we can reopen. After you have developed your idea more, you will need to reach out to Brady directly on Slack, Telegram, or Reddit to have it reopened.

A closed proposal will only be reopened if a significant amount of effort has been put into developing the idea. A sure fire way to get your proposal reopened is to make mock ups, wireframes or other content that can better conceptualize your idea. Technical details of what tools or processes will also be considered if they are sound and realistic approaches.

@Bradymck you asked for some more details on this proposal so I composed two use cases to shed light on how I see it can be used.

Use case A

  • Alice invented a way to improve a quality of life on Earth using tokens and web3.0. She can use Reddit to share her idea but she decides to use special idea-sharing district on district0x since it's dedicated to that purpose and has the handy special tools and the motivated community.
  • She submits her idea to the district with tags 'web3.0', 'tokens', 'life quality'. The district moderators approve her proposal and then it appears on the district's idea list.
  • Community members review the idea and comment on it, vote and so on. Every vote is a value transfer so that some user chosen amount of this district tokens lock in with the idea. This forms the idea fund so when members commit their effort on implementation they may expect some reward.
  • Over time the idea gets implemented by the members and maybe some support from interested DLT companies. PROFIT!

Use case B

  • Neighbors from Foo district of Bar town want to coordinate their efforts on the district issues, GR and overall improvements of social inclusion, the district life and maintenance. They don't want to implement a special framework for that purpose so they decide to use district0x and the special idea-sharing district on it as the main tool.
  • Bob submits the inquiry to the idea-sharing district asking to create a sub-district for the Foo-Bar neighbors. The moderators approve the inquiry and create the sub-district.
  • Then Foo neighbors can elect the sub-district moderators and submit issues, vote on them, resolve them and so on. PROFIT!

@MCDForm that's a great concept and I think it can be applied in some way here. Thanks for sharing!

Hey @uvizhe,

I'm not sure if you're aware but we recently launched a new bounty to migrate your proposals to the actual District Registry: https://registry.district0x.io/

We're replacing the old voting app with the registry. Let me know if you need help but I would love to see you migrate this over so you can claim your DNT.

It does take a 10,000 DNT submit to submit your proposal but this gives you an extra 2000 you can stake in the registry beyond the deposit amount.

Hit me up on Telegram or Discord if you need help or have questions.

Telegram: https://t.me/district0x/75217
Discord: https://discord.gg/P9RQejv

PS, please excuse the canned response. I am encouraging everyone here to start migrating so they can claim their 12000 DNT.
