Name

Creātus
The creative District

Purpose

To act as a market place for digital assets.

To easily source all of the digital assets needed for designing and creating an application. To be able to request the creation of bespoke assets if the existing ones don't meet the needs of the app creator.

Description

Currently, there is a fragmentation of digital assets across the Internet (with varying licenses) and it is difficult to determine the true owner of the digital asset.

Creative District is a truly decentralised marketplace for both people wanting to create a new product and people wanting to monetise their design abilities - without the middleman taking a cut of the profits.

The licenses used on the District will make it clear that the work listed on the platform could be bought in order to use it for commercial use, and potentially the asset could be modified.

The scope of the market place would be

  • Stock photography
  • Icons
  • Logos
  • Fonts
  • Music / Sounds
  • Videos (including 'explainer' and promotional videos)
  • Brushes (to be used in applications such as Photoshop to modify other digital assets)
  • Assets (other digital assets such as people, animals and items used in the applications)

This overarching district could be sub-categorised into the above districts, to make it easier to search for the specific type of asset that you currently need.

It should also be possible to find people that have created assets similar to what you desire and request modifications to their work to match your exact desires.

Further points to consider

  • The use of Ether, or DNT, on the platform helps to ensure consistent pricing for both the seller and the buyer.

  • Ethereum Smart Contracts could be used as an escrow without the need for a 3rd party.

  • The community and the reputation system will help to ensure that the true owner of the work is the only one listing the digital asset(s) on the platform. Potentially, this might require some arbitration process to determine the true owners of the digital asset.

  • It's very difficult to completely stop people copying digital assets. By making it easier to identify the true owners of the asset, making it easier for creatives to monetise their work and making it easy to purchase the license from them; we can hopefully increase the number of people that are paying for licenses - "the Spotify effect".

  • A way to advertise/show that the license to use the digital asset in your application has been purchased through the Creative District.

Competitors

  • Fiverr - A value-add over Fiverr would be not requiring a 3rd party to secure the funds during the creative process and not having to pay a middleman.

Cool idea. I have a different concept aimed at a similar audience here: #25

Regarding asset marketplaces, though not a blockchain company, Stocksy is a cooperative owned and governed by its approximately 1000 members, might be worth checking them, out for inspiration.
