All chats disappear when Mac wakes back up

All chats are gone or unusable when my machine (OS X 10.9.4) comes back from a sleeping state.

I will still be connected to my IRC server, but all the chats (rooms and private) will be gone. The Status () tab will be the only one left and green (connected). When I attempt to rejoin a channel (foo_channel) that is missing, all my tabs come back. Except now, only "foo_channel" will have a input area. If I now join another channel (bar_channel) it changes focus to bar_channel and the input area is back. There is nothing I can do to get the private chats that will now be showing with no input area back in a working state.

I'm getting a similar issue on windows, after about a minute, all the channels will disappear, and if I switch away from the channel I had open at the time, there would be no way to switch back.
