Great idea. I was thinking of writing such app myself at some point and then saw yours instead.

Instead of sending files as attachment, maybe the app could automatically create a share to another user who has access to the system ? This way they get access to all possible documents there and it would bypass the attachment limitation.

So when configuring you'd specify:

  • which local user (or even remote user as federated share?) should receive the shares
  • which folder/file to automatically share upon expiration

Thank you.

Using shares instead of attachments is a great idea. The easiest solution would be to simply create a password protected link and include it in the email. That way it does not matter if the target uses owncloud at all. Generating automated shares for existing users is of course even better.

At the moment I do not have the time to work on this but the functionality should already be available in owncloud. Feel free to create a pull request if you want to work on that feature.

well... sending the password for a protected link does not work if general expiration is set, so i go with @PVince81 suggestion and your statement

(maybe combined with a email as notification), but except of

Using shares instead of attachments

i hope if this feature gets implemented, it will be additional to and not instead of sending emails!
