This is a general issue with running anything in a Docker container. With the limited space for text on the Docker Hub, I'd rather not document general Docker issues on a specific image; the Docker Docs are fairly comprehensive and there is also the Docker Community Forums, the Docker Community Slack, or Stack Overflow.
ulimit is not set on MySQL server, so they start with the default "Max open files" == 1024.
It's a problem when we try to use open_files_limit or innodb_open_files and set it to a higher limit.
EDIT
one could launch docker with --ulimit option. Maybe this could just be documented ?
