Unable to connect Outlook to Dovecot

I've just setup docker-mailserver on my VPS, using a bare hostname. I've not really done anything except for moving the configuration files, edit environment variables, and add an email account. I'm attempting to setup Outlook with the server, and sometimes I get something logged (through the shell in docker-compose up) like

This happens with the connection settings:
Incoming Mail
server -- mydomain.tld
port -- 143
auth - starttls
secure password authentication

Incoming Mail
server -- mydomain.tld
port -- 25
auth - starttls
secure password authentication

However, it happens with all of the authentication methods & SPA disabled or enabled. Whenever I use ports 993 and 587 with authentication method STARTTLS, it won't log anything until a 180 second timeout ends, which then sends

Disconnected: Inactivity (no auth attempts in 180 secs): user=<>, rip=myhomeip, lip=172.20.0.2, TLS handshaking, session=<uxNTyZndXNBC5eVt>

I was able to solve it by adding an MX record and changing it from a bare domain to a mail subdomain.
