We cut another piece but it cracked when we tried to fit the 3D-printed "mountain" (cam). This appears to be due to the sharp corners and tight fit of the two pieces. We considered using MDF instead of acrylic, but decided this might be difficult to clean. We also considered rounding off the corners, but didn't do this as we had already printed off a new mountain using the existing file. It would be worth looking into this again if there are any future problems.
Kate bought a new piece of 5mm acrylic, and we cut a new upper surface using the existing .ai file (as we remembered there being scale problems with the svg). She filed down the mountain so that it fit better.
The upper surface has been cracked since the Knitic was first assembled.
