The database upgrade procedure should be documented either in a wiki page or in embedded docs (e.g. README or man page).
Database changes can be found by the comparing LDIF files between different Dogtag versions which include (but not limited to) the following files:
There might be other changes in the code that require database changes as well (e.g. group membership for connectors).
